A single-core microprocessor refers to an integrated circuit that implements exactly one independent physical execution unit (referred to as a core) in a single chip package.
Overview[edit]
Single-core processors have more or less been phased-out in favor of multi-core processors since the early 2010s for the mobile, desktop, and server markets. Single-core processors can still be found in various low-power, embedded, and special-purpose applications and devices.
