Celeron is a family of low-end x86 microprocessors developed by Intel and targets the ultra-cheap PC market. Celeron is the lowest tier x86 family offered by Intel, below Pentium and has significantly lower performance capabilities than the higher-end processors. Introduced in April of 1998, Celeron is Intel's the second longest serving family of processors after Pentium.
Overview
The Celeron is not considered a performance processor, sitting below the Pentium family and well below the Core i3, which is a low-end performance processor. The Celeron is designed for budget and budget only. Accordingly, turbo boost is generally not significant or present, and most Celerons are dual-core only. They also lack helpful features like hyper-threading, and have generally low performance per mhz, resulting in PassMark scores of below 1500 for most models. Nicknamed the "DeCeleron", the Celeron is ok for basic tasks like word processing, light web browsing and email, and editing of low-resolution photos, but very few applications run smoothly - the lag is real! Browsing fancy websites can be quite tricky, and streaming even decent quality video is a lot to ask. As for gaming? Don't even think about it.

Arrandale Core
The Arrandale-based Celeron processors are dual-core processors. These processors had the FSB replaced with Direct Media Interface 1.0. These processors use Socket-G1. They all have the following features:
- Bus: DMI (2.5 GT/s) interface
- TDP: 18, 35 W
- ISA: Everything up to SSSE3 (SMM, FPU, NX, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3).
- Tech: EIST, VT-x.

Desktop Kaby Lake-based budget Celeron processors were introduced in early 2017. Those models use standard Socket LGA-1151. While no major new features were introduced, those Kaby Lake Celeron models enjoy a modest performance increase due to their slightly higher clock frequency. Additionally, all models share the following common:
- TDP: 35 W, 51 W, and 54 W
- ISA: Everything up to SSE4.2 (SMM, FPU, NX, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AES)
- Tech: VT-x, VT-d, TSX, SpeedStep (EIST), Software Guard (SGX), Memory Protection (MPX), OS Guard, Secure Key, and Speed Shift
- GPU: HD Graphics 610 @ 350 MHz with bursts of 1-1.05 GHz
