The ON MODE event triggers when a user changes channel modes on a channel.

This event fills the $chan, $nick, and $1- identifiers with details relative to this event.

Identifier Description
$chan The channel where modes were changed.
$nick The person who modified the channel modes.
$1- The new channel modes.

Synopsis[edit]

ON <level>:MODE:<#[,#]>:<commands>

Parameters[edit]

<level>The corresponding access levels for the event to trigger.

<#[,#]>The channel, or channels, to match the event listener. Can also be a wildcard.

Target Description
# Can remain #, to target all channels, or be a specific channel name.
[,#] Can add multiple channels to target beyond the initial specified channel name.

<commands>The commands to be performed when the event listener's criteria is met.

Example[edit]

Notice the channel when a user changes channel modes, and the local mIRC client is a channel operator:

ON @*:MODE:#:notice # $nick has modified the channel modes to: $1-

It is important to note that sending a channel notice to everyone at once is generally frowned upon unless one is an operator on the channel, or a bot has been instructed to do so.

Compatibility[edit]

Added: mIRC v3.5
Added on: 07 Aug 1995
Note: Unless otherwise stated, this was the date of original functionality.
Further enhancements may have been made in later versions.
