Au1500-333MBI was a 32-bit ultra low power embedded microprocessor with an Au1 CPU core implementing the MIPS32 ISA. Designed by Alchemy Semiconductor and fabricated on a TSMC 180 nm LV process, this SoC operates at a base frequency of up to 333 MHz with a typical TDP of 400 mW. It has an industrial temperature range of -40 to 100 °C unlike its commercial counterpart Au1500-333MBC and was also available as a Pb-free version Au1500-333MBF.
Cache[edit]
- Main article: Au1 § Cache
Cache Organization
Cache is a hardware component containing a relatively small and extremely fast memory designed to speed up the performance of a CPU by preparing ahead of time the data it needs to read from a relatively slower medium such as main memory. The organization and amount of cache can have a large impact on the performance, power consumption, die size, and consequently cost of the IC. Cache is specified by its size, number of sets, associativity, block size, sub-block size, and fetch and write-back policies. Note: All units are in kibibytes and mebibytes. |

Memory controller[edit]
Au1500 processors integrate two independent memory controllers, a DRAM controller which supports SDRAM, SMROM, and SyncFlash, and a static bus controller which supports SRAM, ROM, Flash memory, PCMCIA/CompactFlash devices, and I/O peripherals such as an external LCD controller. SDRAM runs at one half of the frequency of the internal 32-bit System Bus, which runs at up to one half of the CPU core frequency.
