The RISC-V Foundation is a non-profit consortium established to standardize and promote the RISC-V ISA. The RISC-V foundation is a 501(C)(6) organization established on July 31, 2015.

Mission Statement[edit]

The RISC-V Foundation is a non-profit consortium chartered to standardize, protect, and promote the free and open RISC-V instruction set architecture together with its hardware and software ecosystem for use in all computing devices.

Principles[edit]

  • Ensure RISC-V ISA and standards remain open and license-free to everyone
  • Standard specifications must always be publicly available as an online download
  • The compatibility test suites must always be publicly available as a source code download
