Ryzen (pronounced Rye-Zen) is a family of 64-bit performance x86 microprocessors based on the Zen microarchitecture set to be introduced by AMD in the first quarter of 2017. Ryzen is aimed at the performance market, featuring 4 to 8 cores and no integrated graphics processor.
Overview
Ryzen is the first family of performance processors based on the Zen microarchitecture, the successor to Excavator. Ryzen utilizes AMD's unified Socket AM4. Processors range from four to eight cores and are manufactured on GlobalFoundries' 14 nm process. All Ryzen models are unlocked (i.e., they can be overclocked) however the ability to overclock will depend on the thermal headroom (e.g. TDP) and the chipset used. Note that not all AM4 chipsets support overclocking.
