IC Identification is method by which one can use to identify and locate information such as datasheet about an unrecognized chip.
Markings
If the markings on the chip are still legible, it is possible to markings:
- If there are clear part numbers on the chip, the first letters are called the IC Company Prefix or manufacturer prefix. While there is a lot of crossover between the various manufacturers. It's still possible to reduce the possibilities down to just a few. Once a manufacturer is identified, locating data about the exact part becomes much easier.
- If there is a logo on the chip, it's relatively easy to find the manufacturer based on its logo.
