MediaTek is a Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company. MediaTek designs microprocessors, system on chips and various other chips for mobile devices, home entertainment, wearables, and internet of things.
MediaTek was originally the chipset design team at UMC. In 1997, the division was spun off and as MediaTek Inc. In July of 2001 it went public.
