The NEC μPD751 (also NEC 751) is a 4-bit microcontroller developed by NEC in March of 1973. This chip was the first Japanese single-chip microprocessor. The chip combined NEC's previous 4-bit microprocessor which came in 2 chips, the μPD707 and the μPD708 into a single chip after being inspired by the 4004. NEC further developed the μPD751 into an entire family of chips known as the μCOM-4 family.
