I can confirm that these chips existed, many years ago I pulled some from boards that I had, that were what I dubbed as Rosetta boards, that is they had designations, eg 4004, on them but the chips were of a different number or manufacture, enabling me to cross reference them. This was particularly useful at the time because companies like HP would get their own numbers printed, in the form 1111-1111 in HP's case,on chips which made repair difficult but occasionally they would run out and would fit a normal 74LS00 instead of the 1234-1234? which they normally fitted. I still have these chips amongst my 4004 collection but the last time I looked, time and tide had removed the printing. Pity. --SleepyPhoenix 14:27, 18 November 2015 (EST)

Yea they exist for sure. I had 2 in my collection a few years back that I traded. IIRC someone told me once that National Semiconductor (being a 4004 second source) second sourced it to Hitachi, but I can't find a single shred of evidence to back this claim up. As far as Hitachi's documentations are concerned this chipset doesn't even exist - it's not listen in any of their catalogs and databooks. Would be nice if someone has an actual datasheet for this chip. --ChipIt (talk) 23:36, 18 November 2015 (EST)
