Sun Microsystems, Inc. was an American fabless semiconductor company that sold computers and computer hardware as well as software and services. Sun has developed many notable technologies including the SPARC RISC ISA and the Java programming language.
On April 20 2009, Oracle announced they will acquire Sun for $7.4 billion. The acquisition was completed on January 27 2010.
